Learn how Gaussian splats create smooth 3D reconstructions for AR scenes.

A Gaussian splat is a 3D representation of a space or object made from point clouds and rendered as smoothed-out, blurred spheres.
Splats are generated from captured data like photos or immersive scans. Each point within the splat has position, color, and density. When all of these points are rendered in combination, they form a cohesive 3D scene that can be visually stunning without the need for dense polygon meshes.
Genevieve wants to see the beach outside of her window. She downloads a Gaussian splat of her favorite location and attaches it to the edge of her space. When she looks in that direction in her AR Headset, she's able to see an immersive beach scene and hear the waves.
Gaussian splats enable large-scale, fast 3D constructions of immersive environments with smooth visuals and minimal processing.
