Quick Description

A QR code is a scannable marker that can trigger a digital experience like a website or app download. In AR, it can trigger an immersive experience or be a piece of an image anchor.

How It Works

A camera on your device detects the QR code pattern and decodes the data inside of it. That data reveals a webpage, an AR scene, an app download, or other types of digital information.

Example

Tyler is installing a new printer inside his home. Rather than viewing the manual, he scans a QR code on the box to download the Trace Viewer app. Once downloaded an augmented reality guide appears. This shows him how to set up the printer step-by-step in an immersive spatial slideshow.

Why It Matters

QR codes offer a straightforward way to pull up AR content directly from a mobile device or headset.
